UN organizations, such as the FAO and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), are increasingly recognizing that there is much to learn from indigenous communities. Transformational and locally adapted knowledge is needed to confront the current climate and biodiversity crisis. In my feature for WOZ, I highlight the benefits of taking indigenous knowledge into account when doing research and the many gaps that still exist. Large parts of the text are dedicated to the Inga's grandiose idea of founding a "pluriversity" in the Colombian rainforest; a university for teaching and learning indigenous knowledge that is threatened with disappearance.
